[And ten minutes letter David's there, dressed in a baggy T-shirt and jeans. He looks like he got dressed and came in a hurry.]

[Will and Kirjava are waiting as promised, looking less tired and disoriented than he feels, also in a t-shirt and jeans. Kirjava watches David with interest while Will turns to open the door to the CES.]

How's Bourne been treating you.

[And the cat's there again. David is entirely convinced now that Kirjava is some kind of wizard familiar or something. :o]

He's kind of been hanging back and just watching me from a distance lately. [He shrugs, not entirely sure what to make of it but obviously not disappointed with this turn of events.] The whole boot camp thing got dropped, I guess. Not that I'm complaining.

[Well you're not too too far off from the truth. c:]

Boot camp? [He glances over his shoulder at the inmate as he opens the door, holding it open for David before he moves to step inside and close it, Kirjava keeping right at his heels.

The CES was a wide, grassy landscape, with some large trees not far off in the distance with odd looking seedpods hanging off them. Strange, flat lava flows, almost like modern human's asphalt roads, cut through the grass, standing out in sharp contrast to the golds and greens of the plants. Will's been here before, but not for years, and for a moment, his usually reserved and guarded face is an open book of surprise and something like nostalgia.]

[If he still had his powers, he'd totally try to acquire her.]

Yeah. That was his big solution for fixing all my problems. [He's a little surprise that Will holds the door open for him, but nods and makes his way in, mindful of Kirjava at their feet.]

Whoa... [David looks frankly surprised and maybe even a little impressed - he's used the CES before but only to recreate places he's been before - and he's never been anywhere like this. The landscape is almost alien, and he looks to Will.] I thought you said you were from a pretty normal world.

[That would be accidentally creepy and gross and how would that even work :|a]

I am. [And once again, his expression closed off a little. He really hadn't been expecting this, and he's not sure how to feel about it just... being here.] This isn't my world.

[He is still going by the assumption that Kirjava is an animal. BOY IS HE IN FOR A SURPRISE.]

Then what is it? [He looks a little annoyed at Will's monotone answer - he's gotten plenty of those from Bourne over the months.] I'm guessing it's somewhere you've been, because it sure isn't anywhere I've ever been.

[WAIT UNTIL SHE TALKS TO YOU. C:]

It is. I don't know what it's called, but I stayed here with some friends for a few weeks once. Years ago. [There's no sign of the mulefa though, or of anything he recognizes, really.]

[WHAT IS THIS WILL IS YOUR CAT AN ANIMORPH? :O]

You never said you'd been to different planets before. [He might be impressed. Just a little bit.] Is this the place where you learned to handle that knife of yours?

[NOT EXACTLY. OR, YOU KNOW, AT ALL.]

It's not another planet. It's another world. [This is weird to talk about. :| There's almost a moment of panic at the mention of a knife, but he quickly remembers he'd used a knife in port.] And no.

[SHE'S LIKE THAT CAT FROM HOCUS POCUS ISN'T SHE?]

What do you mean, another world? Like a different dimension? [He's marveling now, going a little off the road to inspect the trees.] Shame the CES can't bring in animals, I bet this place had some incredible ones.

[NOPE. IT'S COMPLICATED.]

A parallel universe. [And he's following right behind David.] We might see some lizards, but I'm not sure the CES would be able to recreate some of the more unique animals.

[And no sooner does Will mention that than a lizard crawls out from under a branch. David reaches for it, grinning.]

No shit? I guess there really was something to it. [He looks back at Will.] What'd you go to a parallel universe for?

[Kirjava is now side eyeing him a little. What are you doing with that lizard, Mr. No Powers.]

It's a very long story. [But, somewhat surprisingly, he's not bristling as much as he usually would be if say, someone back home wanted to know the story.]

[Surprisingly, David's content to just let the lizard crawl around on his palm for a bit before putting it back on the branch.]

It usually is. [He nods to the road, figuring Will's not gonna tell him any more than that.] Wanna run for a bit? I was running with Tim for a little while there. You know, before everything happened.

Alright. [He starts heading off for the road, but Kirjava stays behind, finding a nice spot on a flat rock and beginning to wash herself, much like a normal cat would.] Was all of that resolved?

Depends on what you mean by 'resolved'. [He follows Will, stopping to stretch once they get on the road, the way Tim showed him how to. It's still a novice's movements, but he's getting better.] Did I serve my time? Yeah. Is it all over and done with? Probably not.

Do you regret what happened? [He's not pressuring him for an answer so much as just asking out of curiosity, and there's no judgment in his tone or expression.]

[He stops stretching and looks at Will for a moment, his expression suspicious and guarded. When he sees there's no judgment there, he looks away.] ... I didn't mean for anyone else to get involved. It was supposed to just be me and Bourne.

I'm sure he was thrilled to talk with you after it happened. [He commented dryly, looking back out at the road. Will really didn't think much of Bourne, not after what had happened, and he was actually surprised to see that David apparently hadn't been punished outside of his stay in Zero.]

Not really. [His expression is part smug, part perplexed. He doesn't mind it, but he doesn't quite get it.] He came down to my cell while I was in Zero, but since then I haven't seen him. [He chews his lip thoughtfully.] I think Tim might have had something to do with it.

[Will just nods neutrally, glancing out at the horizon again - it's strange to not hear the sounds of the mulefa riding around on the roads - before looking back at David.] You're lucky, to have someone like that looking out for you.

... Yeah, I know. [And to be honest, it's something he hasn't quite figured out even to this day, why Tim's been there for him when he threw the comics in his face and mocked him mercilessly the first time they talked.] He's a good guy.
